II International Symposium on Education in Emergencies

Colombia's experience of conflict, peace processes, displacement and reconciliation makes Bogotá a particularly meaningful place to continue the dialogue on education in crisis contexts.

In August 2026, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Chocó, the country’s strongest in a decade, affected more than 1,000 schools, according to UNICEF, adding a natural disaster to a context of conflict.

The second edition again brings together researchers, humanitarian practitioners, civil society and communities, this time hosted by Universidad de los Andes.

Aim: to create an interdisciplinary space to critically reflect on the role of education in building peace in crisis contexts.
